Feminist Oliver Twist

Coat: Topshop (sold out, similar here) | Top: American Apparel (sold out, similar here) | Jeans: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here) | Shoes: Topshop (sold out, similar here) | Hat: Free People (sold out, similar here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Glasses: Warby Parker | Earrings: H&M

"Please, sir. May I have some more respect for women?" - Feminist Oliver Twist.

It's Women's History Month; a time to celebrate and reflect on the advances women of all ages, backgrounds, identities, and abilities have made in society. Women are revolutionaries. We are movers, shakers, thinkers, creators, entrepreneurs, and so much more. We're strong and vulnerable, clever and scrappy. We persist and defy expectations. We raise our voices. We say #MeToo and Time's Up. We demand positive social change.

I love the color red. It's a power color. Red lipstick colors the words I speak with a stroke of strength and passion. A red coat keeps my body warm that others have branded with a scarlet letter for being too vocal. Isn't it strange how women can seemingly never win? How people try to color us with their favorite shades?

When someone tries to paint you with a broad brush, make your colors shine brighter. Be unapologetic in the showcase of the masterpiece you call your soul. Be kind to yourself. Celebrate yourself. Support your sisters. Be an ally for those who are not able or are hesitant to express their complete selves. Listen. Learn. Speak and stand up. We are women.

City Casual

Dress: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here) | Shirt: Nordstrom (sold out, similar here) | Shoes: Converse | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (sold out, similar here) | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Watch: Daniel Wellington | Bracelet: Tiffany & Co. | Choker: H&M | Earrings: Nordstrom Rack (sold out, similar here)

T-shirt dress + shirt tied around the waist + Converse + mini bag = the perfect busy-in-the-city look. It's comfortable, casual, and can take you anywhere from running errands to treating yourself to a tasty lunch. One of my favorite spots is Tatte Bakery & Cafe, which is right around the corner from where I took these pictures in Beacon Hill. Their sandwiches are some of the best in Beantown, as are their pastries, cookies, and hot teas. Tatte's mint lemonade is my weakness, especially on a hot day. It's hydration and happiness in a cup. To complete the laid-back look, I accessorized with simple jewelry and sunnies. I'm summer in the city ready.

Stars and Stripes

Dress: Topshop (sold out, similar here) | Jacket: Hollister Co. (sold out, similar here) | Shoes: Converse | Bag: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here) | Necklace: Brandy Melville | Earrings: Nordstrom Rack | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Happy 2nd of July! Can you believe it?! We're only two days away from the 4th. I'll be delivering Fourth of July outfit inspo all long weekend long here on Bits of Style. My first look is a modern spin on Americana. I wore this same Topshop navy and white stripe midi dress around the holiday last summer. I've styled it a bit differently this time around. I paired the dress with my go-to white Converse to keep the look casual. A vintage wash denim jacket I've had in my closet for ages (I'm talking freshman year of high school) protects arms and shoulders that burn easily. It's lightweight enough that I won't overheat either. A faux leather backpack holds all my summer essentials: sunscreen, sunnies, baseball cap, and a water bottle. For accessories, I chose my favorite gold star choker to play up the stripes on my dress. Stars and stripes scream Independence Day. Gold hoop earrings keep the look well-rounded. Ray-Bans are the finishing touch. Enjoy the festivities, my fellow Americans! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ ⭐ πŸŽ† ❤️

Posh Spice

Dress: Reformation (sold out, similar here) | Shoes: ASOS (sold out, similar here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (sold out, similar here) | Velvet choker: Forever 21 (sold out, similar here) | Silver choker: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here)

Someone told me this look was very Posh Spice. She hadn't even by my outfit inspiration. I was flattered! My style almost always favors the '90s so it's very on-brand. I am always down to wear a little black dress. I paired my favorite one from Reformation with lace up sandals, layered chokers, and a mini bag. "I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want!" I want to "spice up my life" with more '90s summer outfits.

Sheer Darkness

Jacket: Zara (sold out, similar here) | Top: Brandy Melville | Bralette: Brandy Melville | Skirt: H&M | Shoes: Dr. Martens | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (sold out, similar here) | Tights: ASOS | Choker: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here)

I feel like a Hex Girl from Scooby Doo and the Witches Ghost. That movie is highly underrated imo. If you want to talk about it, lmk. I'm really into clothes that look like I'm in a coven, especially since the country has been put under some political dark spell. These days, you can find me wearing all black singing along to Harry Styles' album. My personal favorites are "Sign of the Times," "Sweet Creature," "Ever Since New York," "Two Ghosts," and "Meet Me in the Hallway." However, all the songs are divine (much like him). If you haven't given the masterpiece a listen yet, please do! (If you're reading this, Harry, I love you.)

I finally got my hands on the sheer top from Brandy Melville I'd been eyeing for a while. Your first see-through article of clothing counts as some sort of rite of passage, doesn't it? I'm going to go with yes. It's daring. It's edgy. It's totally Cher Horowitz approved. I'm all about it. I paired the barely-there blouse with a lacy black bralette, faux leather jacket, raw-hem denim skirt, fishnets, and Doc Martens. MAC lipstick in 'Model Behaviour' adds the finish touch. If you're going '90s goth, you have to go all the way. This look is sheer darkness.

Spring Stripes

Shirt: Zara (sold out, similar here) | Top: Free People (sold out, similar here) | Jeans: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (sold out, similar here) | Sneakers: Adidas | Earrings: Nordstrom Rack (sold out, similar here) | Bracelet: Tiffany & Co.

Stripes? For spring? Groundbreaking. In all seriousness, I am a big fan of stripes for spring. I don't care if it's clichΓ©. Some patterns are classic in all their seasonal glory. For this look, I paired my favorite striped Zara shirt with an off-white, floral embossed off the shoulder top, mom jeans, and white Adidas kicks. To balance the boho and '90s vibes going on, I accessorized with silver hoop earrings and a delicate Tiffany bracelet, and carried my Rebecca Minkoff mini bag. This look is springtime ready.

Deport Me, I'm Irish

T-shirt: Teespring | Jacket: Topshop (sold out, similar here) | Jeans: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here) | Sneakers: Adidas | Bag: Kate Spade | Earrings: Nordstrom Rack (sold out, similar here) | Choker: Forever 21 (sold out, similar here) | Glasses: Warby Parker (sold out)

"Deport Me, I'm Irish." St. Patrick's Day is over, but the threat to 50,000 Irish immigrants living in the U.S. is not. My great grandparents immigrated to America from Ireland. As the saying goes, we are all immigrants. President Donald Trump's executive orders on immigration put many people in this country at risk of deportation. The President's intolerance towards those who are seeking a new life in the United States is incredibly disheartening and unconstitutional. That's why when you purchase any of the "Deport Me, I'm Irish" merch I designed, a portion of the proceeds benefits the American Civil Liberties Union. The ACLU has been working tirelessly to ensure the rights of all human beings are protected. Organizations like them need our support now more than ever. Grunge Girl

Top: Nordstrom (sold out, similar here) | Jeans: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here) | Flannel: Target (sold out, similar here) | Shoes: Dr. Martens | Fishnets: ASOS (sold out, similar here) | Choker: Forever 21 (sold out, similar here) | Earrings: Nordstrom Rack (sold out, similar here)

I've been digging grunge looks lately. They are effortless and make me feel powerful; like I can conquer the busy day ahead. The key to putting a grunge outfit together is layering. I wore fishnets under my distressed mom jeans to create a unique mix of texture. I tied my favorite monochrome flannel around my waist and went for an off the shoulder crop top. I accessorized with a blingy velvet choker and oversized silver hoops. Dr. Martens, a grunge icon, complete the look.

French Stripes

Top: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here) | Skirt: Topshop (sold out, similar here) | Shoes: Sam Edelman | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (sold out) | Tights: ASOS (sold out, similar here) | Watch: Daniel Wellington

The brick-paved streets of Boston's historic Beacon Hill are perfect for wandering down when you want to escape reality for a moment and pretend you're in a Parisian village far far away from the land of "the president who shall not be named." It's been very warm lately, and by very warm I mean in the 60s and 70s, which is both lovely and disturbing. As I mentioned in my last post, we can thank global warming for that. Fishnets and skirts have been my weird weather go-tos. For this look, I paired them with a black and white stripe mock neck top, loafers, and mini bag for French-inspired flair.

French Flair

Jacket: Zara (sold out, similar hereSweater: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here) | Turtleneck: Uniqlo | Jeans: Zara (sold out, similar here) | Sneakers: Adidas 'Stan Smith' (sold out, similar here) | Bag: MCM (vintage, similar here) | Scarf: Old Navy (sold out, similar here) | Hat: T.J.Maxx (sold out, similar here) | Glasses: Warby Parker

Taking some inspiration from Paris for this monochromatic look. Boston has been windy and chilly lately, so bundling up is a must. I went for a beret, oversized scarf, and lots of layers to keep warm. My Uniqlo HEATTECH turtleneck has been a total lifesaver. It is like wearing a warm fleecy blanket. I'll have this grey one and a black version on rotation all fall and winter long.

The LBD

Dress: Reformation (sold out, similar here) | Jacket: c/o Madewell | Sneakers: Adidas 'Stan Smith' | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Choker: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here)

Oh, the LBD; one of my all-time favorite pieces of clothing. There is no occasion an LBD can't be worn to. It can be dressed up or down and take on any personality. When I stumbled upon this one in the end of summer Ref Sale, I couldn't let it slip by. I love the dainty straps, straight neckline, and formfitting cut. It has a '90s vibe which is always a win with me. The '90s really were all that.

I dressed down the LBD with my 'Stan Smith' sneakers, black velvet choker, and Madewell denim jacket. It was the perfect look to wear strolling through the streets of Beacon Hill on a cool and sunny afternoon. I don't think I'll ever get over how much I adore this neighborhood. Simple dresses and city streets have my heart.

Silky

Top: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here) | Skirt: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here) | Sneakers: Adidas | Bag: MCM (vintage, similar here) | Watch: Daniel Wellington | Choker: Brandy Melville

Who says you can't wear white after Labor Day? Summer's winding down, but I'll wear white whenever I want! I paired this Brandy Melville denim skirt with a Brandy Melville silky black cami for an uber-girly look. A silky cami is a wardrobe basic that can be dressed up or down and worn in many ways. It will look great layered under a denim jacket or chunky knit cardigan as it gets colder. To play with texture, I wore a velvet choker also from, you guessed it, Brandy Melville, around my neck. I think silk and velvet look really cool together. Silk is a thinner fabric while velvet is thicker, yet they both have a luxurious sheen to them. To compete the look, I wore my trusty Adidas 'Superstar' sneakers and vintage MCM tambourine bag.
