Be a Wardrobe Detective

I am the type of girl who is very "wardrobe wise"; I know everything that is hanging in my closet...and what should be. My favorite part of being "wardrobe wise" is knowing what is hanging on the rack in a store just waiting to be a part of my clothes family. Being a wardrobe detective requires quite a bit of organization. My phone is the perfect place to conduct my detective work. I make lists of the types of clothes I want and what stores I can find them in. I also like to take screenshots of clothes I find online and keep them in an album. It's the little things that make being a wardrobe detective fun.

As a wardrobe detective, I like to be a personal style sleuth. My taste in clothes is constantly changing, and I like to keep track of it. Just by looking through my closet, I can see how my style has evolved over time. It currently doesn't look very cohesive, and little by little I am working to change that. I want to eventually have a closet full of clothes that suits my style perfectly.

Speaking of my style, I find that it is something I  have always had a hard time defining and describing. I love simple silhouettes, monochrome, skater skirts, and girly details such as peter pan collars and bling. I take inspiration from celebrities such as Audrey Hepburn, Lily Collins, and YouTubers, Zoe Sugg (Zoella), and Tanya Burr. Despite all the factors that play into my sense of fashion, I am still trying to figure it out. A wardrobe detective is always learning.

My challenge for you is to be your own wardrobe detective. Be "wardrobe wise", a personal style sleuth, and discover what inspires you. The world of fashion is one big mystery and we are all on the case.

Striped Style

Top: Free People | Jeans: Topshop | Flats: Steve Madden | Scarf: H&M | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelets: Alex & Ani | Earrings: Juicy Couture

Stripes are going to be a huge trend this Spring, so why not show your style stripes right now? I think wearing something striped is the perfect way to make an outfit interesting. One of my favorite things about this print is its ability to take on many different personalities. My top Free People looks girly with my black skinny jeans, ballet flats and accessories. A stripe shirt can look edgy with boyfriend jeans and a leather jacket or effortlessly cool with skinny jeans and your favorite pair of sneakers. Whatever your sense of style may be, I think everyone can show their style stripes.

January Favorites

Beauty
  • Urban Decay Naked 3 palette: I have officially declared this my favorite eyeshadow palette of all time. It has the perfect colors to create a girly and neutral look. I just wish it came with a mini lip gloss or Primer Potion like the other two palettes (sigh).
  • Urban Decay Naked Basics palette: This palette has been my go-to for those days when I want an eyeshadow look that never fails. These 6 shades can create so many neutral looks. I wish it came with a mini eyeshadow brush. Seriously, how cute would that have been!?
  • Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in  shade '104': I wore this so much throughout January. It is creamy, hydrating, and the perfect "your lips but better" color.
  • Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in 'Black Ink': This gel eyeliner is worth the hype. It goes on smooth and stays all day.
Fashion
  • Tiffany & Co. Elsa Peretti Open Heart Pendant: I got this necklace for Christmas this year and I absolutely adore it. It is so elegant and understated. I know I will wear it forever.
  • H&M circle scarf: I own this scarf in both cranberry and black. The cranberry one was definitely worn the most out of the two in January. It adds the perfect pop of color to an outfit in need.
  • Faux leather skater skirt: My faux leather skater skirt has become a winter staple for me. I love wearing it with tights, ballet flats, and sweaters. I bought mine from Tj Maxx and I couldn't be happier with it.
Music
  • Lorde 'Pure Heroine': I have been obsessed with Lorde recently. Her album 'Pure Heroine' is amazing. I can't stop listening to "Love Club", "Team", "Royals" and "Tennis Court".

Faux Fur

Vest: Rachel Zoe | Turtleneck: H&M | Shorts: Forever 21 | Shoes: Tj Maxx | Watch: Michael Kors

Faux Fur is my favorite. This vest is so much fun to wear with different outfits. Pairing it with a turtleneck sweater keeps me extra cozy.
