Thrifted Thursday

My hometown recently got a Savers and I am obsessed, to say the least. I've been a thrifting fiend for quite some time, but this shop always has an impressive selection. I didn't want to leave the store there were so many good finds! If you've never been thrifting before, definitely go and pop some tags. You're bound to find something that will make your stylish heart sing.

Today's thrift shop haul was quite large. I honestly did not expect to leave with this much, but I love each and every piece. These items will be getting a lot of use their second time around.

I purchased a blue Gap t-shirt with white and black stripes that will be perfect to wear with denim shorts and sneakers. It was only $3.99, so I couldn't leave it there. I also picked up a gorgeous Oshkosh flannel from the boys section which was a little more expensive at $11.99, but had the $30 price tag still hanging from it. It's a great find that I will get a lot of wear out of. The leopard print blouse is originally from H&M and cost $5.99. It looks like it was never worn. I also snagged two scarves: an Americana print that will be fab for the Fourth of July and a vintage, ornate print red one by Sunkyung Sa. I thought it looked really cool and chic. I bought two pairs of $7.99 pants, one being denim capris from American Eagle, and a pair of mom jeans by Bullhead from PacSun.

Because it isn't a shopping trip unless I buy something black, I picked up two black tops for $4.99 each. The first one is a sleeveless button down shirt from Gap, and the second is a a ribbed knit sleeveless turtleneck  that looks like exactly like something Brandy Melville would sell. I also found a Tommy Hilfiger tee for $3.99, and again, from the boys section, a vintage Gap denim jacket for only $6.99. I couldn't believe it! This is probably my favorite find of the thrifting trip. I am beyond excited to start wearing it.

I guess this throwback Thursday became a thrifting Thursday, which is still a throwback in itself. You can't help but love those throwback threads.

Sister Style

If there is one person who loves fashion as much as I do, it's my sister Maggie. She has always been a fashionista who is never afraid to experiment with clothes. Her sense of style is worth showcasing. I would call Maggie's look "vintage boho chic with some '90s grunge mixed in." Basically, it's the opposite of mine!

I've put together a little lookbook of my favorite outfits Maggie has worn. These looks really represent her style and personality. Isn't that what fashion is all about?

Flannel: thrifted | T-shirt: thrifted | Jeans: Brandy Melville | Scrunchie: American Apparel | Choker: Brandy Melville

Kimono: Tj Maxx | Tank top: Old Navy | Shorts: Brandy Melville | Hat: Forever 21

Flannel: Forever 21 | T-shirt: Zara | Yoga leggings: Old Navy | Sneakers: Van's

Denim shirt: thrifted | Dress: Brandy Melville

I love doing photo shoots with this girl I am proud to call my sister. She makes a fabulous model and her closet is a lot of fun to play around with. There are so many unique pieces in her wardrobe and I'm kind of jealous! She pulls them all off so well.

My MAC Lipstick Collection

I am a MAC lipstick addict. I just can never have enough! They are amazing quality and come in many different colors and finishes. They apply smoothly on the lips with fabulous staying power and pigmentation. My personal favorites are the satins, lustres, and cremesheens. If you haven't tried MAC lipsticks, I highly suggest you do.

My collection:
Sweetie (lustre)
Snob (satin)
Up The Amp (amplified)
Hot Gossip (cremesheen)
Lovelorn (lustre)
Pink Pearl Pop (cremesheen)
Viva Glam V (lustre)
Viva Glam Miley Cyrus (amplified) *Limited Edition
Candy Yum-Yum (matte)
Creme Cup (cremesheen)
Angel (frost)
Bombshell (frost)
Media (satin)
Rebel (satin)
Russian Red (matte)
MAC Red (satin)
Real Doll (lustre) *Limited Edition
Lustering (lustre)
Milan Mode (lustre)
Creme De La Femme (frost)
Plumful (lustre)

I have been growing this collection for about four years. MAC lipsticks are something I truly love collecting and I want to purchase more and more. I don't see this obsession stopping any time soon! I've swatched all my lipsticks on my arm below, so you can get an idea as to what they look like. Keep in mind, they do look a bit different on the lips and will not appear the same on any one skin tone. Definitely stop by a MAC store or counter to see these beauties for yourself.

Top from left to right: Sweetie, Snob, Up The Amp, Hot Gossip, Lovelorn, Pink Pearl Pop, Viva Glam V, Viva Glam Miley Cyrus, Candy Yum-Yum, Creme Cup, Angel, Bombshell
Bottom from left to right: Media, Rebel, Russian Red, MAC Red, Real Doll, Lustering, Milan Mode, Creme De La Femme, Plumful

It's hard for me to pick a favorite, because I love them all, but if I had to choose I would say Milan Mode at the moment. It has just the right amount of shimmer and is a gorgeous plumy fuchsia. The color I think suits everyone is Viva Glam V. It's a rosy pink color with flecks of gold shimmer that is perfect for day or night. A must-have, in my opinion.

Are you a MAC addict like myself? What is your favorite shade? Let me know in the comments below.

That '70s Skirt

Top: Brandy Melville | Skirt: Topshop | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Sneakers: Ked's | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelets: Alex and Ani | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

The '70s are back and the fashion world has taken notice! I had been coveting this Topshop skirt for quite some time and just had to get it. I love how it looks with something as simple as a pair of sneakers and a crop top. The button front adds a unique, retro touch. Denim skirts are a classic, versatile piece that I think every girl should have in her closet. They're the perfect addition to any spring and summer wardrobe. Give your style some '70s flair!

Boston Boho

Blouse: H&M | Shorts: PacSun | Sneakers: Ked's | Backpack: Brandy Melville | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelets: Alex and Ani

I couldn't resist taking pictures beneath these beautiful cherry blossom trees in the Boston Common. They fit the flower child look of this outfit. I've been all about vintage vibes this spring. Looking to the past for style inspiration is always fun.

Best Dressed at the Met Gala

There were so many equisite gowns at last night's Met Gala in New York City. I couldn't help myself from making a best dressed list. There was a surplus of style and glamour. In no particular order, here are my favorite looks of the evening.

Hailee Steinfeld in Michael Kors

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley  in Atelier Versace

Janelle Monae in H&M

Jessica Chastain in Givenchy

Which look was your favorite?

Little Black Jacket

Jacket: Cynthia Rowley via Tj Maxx | Top: Cynthia Rowley via Tj Maxx | Jeans: Abercrombie | Loafers: Gap | Pearl necklace: vintage

I'm channeling Coco Chanel with my little black jacket. I paired it with dark wash skinny jeans, a simple black tee, black leather loafers, and pearls that were my great grandmother's in the 20s. I love this necklace so much. It's a piece of family history and goes perfectly with the look. You can never go wrong with a string of pearls and a little black jacket.

Bits of April

I can't believe April is over and it's now May. The springtime is just flying by and it will be summer before we know it. The month of April really got me in the spring mood. I think this is because I was so sick of all the snow we had here in Boston. My "Bits of April" reflect my love of this happy, sunshiny season.

1. I loved being outside
I went outside and became one with nature a lot this past month. Walks through the Boston Common and Garden and down to the Charles River esplanade were some of my favorite pass times. The fresh air felt so good for a change after having been stuck inside all winter. I will definitely continue to spend time outside on beautiful days.

2. I did some spring shopping
New season = new clothes! I picked up a few pieces of clothing that I absolutely feel in love with: a black lace dress and white off-the-shoulder blouse from H&M, and a knit tank top and windowpane shorts from Brandy Melville. I know I will get a lot of wear out of these items and I'm excited to style them.

3. MAC Cosmetics 'Real Doll' lipstick
MAC's lipsticks from their Real Beauty spring 2015 collection are so pretty I couldn't help myself. I just had to get one! This pinky lilac shade was my favorite of them all. The entire collection is limited edition so if you have your eye on a springy shade, go for it!

And that basically sums up my month! Stay stylin'!
