Band Tee + Bomber Jacket

Bomber jacket: Topshop | T-shirt: thrifted (similar here) | Jeans: Topshop | Sneakers: Adidas 'Superstar' | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Choker: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here)

The band tee + bomber jacket combo is one of my favorite casual pairings. The jacket adds a sporty vibe, while the Ramones tee keeps it rock 'n roll. To keep the sporty and rock 'n roll vibes balanced, I wore Adidas 'Superstars,' black skinny jeans, and accessorized with a velvet choker necklace and structured mini bag. Although this outfit consists of only a few simple pieces, the overall look makes a statement. Rock on!

Bits of Style x Back Bay Night Out

On Thursday, June 9th, the Prudential Center in Boston hosted one of their Back Bay Night Out events. It's an evening of fashion, yummy food, and refreshments. The Prudential Center Marketing Team was so kind as to extend an invite to me and a few other Boston bloggers: Elissa (style-wire.com), Emily (stylecubby.com), Jess (whatjesswore.com), Meredith (thoughtfulwish.com), and Thu (justtututiny). Be sure to check out their amazing blogs! We were each given a goodie bag with gifts from Aritzia, Sam Edelman, and Sugarfina, and spent the night visiting their stores to learn more about the history of each brand. I had such a fun time getting to know the shops and my fellow Boston bloggers.

The first store we visited was Sugarfina, a luxury candy boutique. Besides New York, the Prudential Center location is the only full-size boutique on the East Coast. We did a candy tasting and there was not one treat I tried that I didn't like. Everything was so good. My personal favorite I sampled were their coveted Champagne Bears. The boutique was beautiful with aqua blue and white accents, bright lighting, and lots of modern, artistic details. It was a grown-up Candy Land! I love how the candy is sold in crystal clear boxes. It makes the packaging nothing like your typical candy wrapper. The experience was very special and I will definitely go back again.

The next store we went to was Sam Edelman. I've been a lover of their shoes for years. I swear by the Gigi Sandal and Petty Ankle Bootie. They're comfortable, chic classics that go with anything. I had passed by the new Sam Edelman store at the Prudential Center when it first opened a few months ago, but never ventured inside. Until I saw the Boston store, I was unaware Sam Edelman even had their own shops. I'd only seen their products sold in department stores. I also learned Sam Edelman is an actual person, and he and his wife, Libby, run the company, traveling the world for design inspiration. Does Sam & Libby sound nostalgic and familiar? The shoe brand, now sold at Target, is their creation! How cool is that?! The Sam Edelman store had a boho, tropical vibe to it with hardwood floors and lots of greenery, which I loved. I will have to go back and get my shoe fix ASAP. They were all fabulous.

Our final stop was Aritzia. I attended the grand opening back in March, which was exciting, but very crowded. I didn't have a chance to really look around. It was nice being able to browse and also learn a lot about the brand. It's a Canadian company and the closest store to the Boston location is New York City. While the name has no meaning, the brand stands for big things. The free-spirited Aritzia is all about female empowerment. The founder is a woman and the clothes themselves are inspired by everyday women of all ages. Now that's awesome! I support women wearing what they want to wear and being who they are always. I can't wait to go back to "the oasis" as I like to call it. The store is just too pretty! It's like taking a calming, shopping vacation. Plus, the music they play is super chill.

As for my outfit of the night, I wore an all black look (as usual). I used the gorgeous backdrop of the waterfall in the lobby of the 111 Huntington Avenue skyscraper to take pictures. I love how monochromatic it turned out.

Dress: American Apparel | Jacket: Zara (sold out, similar) | Shoes: ASOS | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Choker: Brandy Melville | Scrunchie: American Apparel (sold out)

A big thank you again to the Prudential Center Marketing Team for having me. Thank you to the representatives from Sugarfina, Sam Edelman, and Aritzia for taking the time to share the stories of your brands. It was a wonderful night.

Mad Maxi

Dress: Topshop (sold out, similar here) | Jacket: thrifted (similar here) | Sneakers: Adidas 'Stan Smith' | Bag: MCM (vintage, similar here) | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Watch: Daniel Wellington | Choker: Brandy Melville (sold out, similar here

Maxis are one of my favorite dresses to wear in the summertime. They can be styled in many ways and worn on countless occasions. I bought this one from Topshop last year and have gotten so much wear out of it. Because it's black, (my color of choice), and a simple silhouette, it goes with anything, day or night.

I styled this maxi with a '90s grunge vibe. My thrifted denim jacket I've been decorating with pins and MCM tambourine bag add vintage elements. A black velvet choker, Ray-Bans, and 'Stan Smiths' keep the look edgy. My '90s look wouldn't be complete without dark, matte lipstick. I'm wearing MAC VIVA GLAM Ariana Grande. Be fierce like Furiosa and take on hot summer days in a rad, mad maxi dress.

Summer Dressing

For me, summertime = dresses. They're an outfit all in one piece; what could be better?! My go-to dresses of the season are body-con, slip, and maxi. While searching the web for my favorites, I discovered Nasty Gal, Topshop, ASOS, and Zara had the best selections. I swear by Topshop's and ASOS' petite lines.

Body-Con

My favorite body-con dresses have interesting details. I loved the strappy halter style of the navy Nasty Gal dress. It would look great with a pair of silver heels. The bell sleeves of the white dress really caught my eye. It feels a bit '70s and a bit French all at once. The grey ribbed lace-up dress from Topshop is perfect for hot summer days. I'd wear it casually with sneakers or sandals.

Slip

Slip dresses are the dress of the moment. Celebrities like Zendaya, Selena Gomez, and Rihanna are bringing back the '90s silhouette. I have purchased a couple slip dresses this season, one being this silky Topshop mini dress. I really like the Nasty Gal v-neck slip with lace details and navy blue slip with double straps as well.

Maxi

I've also been into maxi dresses lately. They can be dressed up or down, especially when they're made of fabrics like silk or a cotton knit. Because I'm petite, I tend to gravitate towards solid colors. I find wearing one tone gives the illusion of being taller. I fell in love with the lace trim maxi from Topshop. It has a romantic and soft look about it that's perfect for summer. The black ASOS halter maxi dress with a side slit is perfect for day or night, and the white one from Zara with a crochet bodice is very beachy and bohemian.

What is your favorite style dress to wear in the summertime?
